11/2010:
At the beginning of November the school was invited to a theatre at Alianza Francesa. The performance touched on a number of controversial subjects including family violence, trafficking and kidnappings and was sometimes quite heavy. However, the clowns and the singing made the children enjoy the performance, and a lot of them later reflected on how important subjects like these are since this is the reality many of them face.

Recycling record!! During October month DCR collected and sold 1200 kilo plastic, cardboard and paper.

New volunteers! Two new Swedish volunteers joined us in October, Emma Karmhed and Sandra Azima.
09/2010:
Beginning of the new semester! At the end of September we began a new semester in the school of Project DCR with a group that only within a few days reached the limit of 25 children. Our school always starts two weeks after regular Ecuadorian schools in order to avoid that children that should have been enrolled in regular schools come to ours.
08/2010:
The construction of two new classrooms. A combination of an enormous need of more space and a unexpected support from Sweden gave us the possibility to finally extend our school. We were granted permission by the municipality to use the abandoned shed next to the school and after two months of hard work we have transformed it into two beautiful classrooms, so bright that we don't even need electricity! At the end of September we could start using the new classrooms and it was fantastic to be able to divide the students into different rooms which has made the school a lot calmer.
07/2010:
* The environmental project in the school has shown result! At the end of the semester we had tomatoes, aloe Vera, potatoes and onions. snow growing in the backyard of the school. These are plants that the children have planted and taken care of very day during the year. In collaboration with a youth organization which runs an eco-project in Carcelén, every Friday has also been "cleaning day" with a small group of children going out on the street picking up plastic bottles. After a year of learning about the environment in the school it's amazing to notice how much the children have actually learned about the environment and the ecosystem.
07/2010:
The last days of semester in Carcelen Bajo with the children from 2009/2010 together with volunteers Thomas Zizala and Anna Lindholm. Our amazing volunteers makes the organization and we can only hope that you one day will come back and visit us!

Summercafé in Kälom in support of Project DCR! The first week of July Kristina Ernehed and Sofia Palmqvist had a café with sales of Ecuadorian handcraft. A million thanks for your help!
